Finery creation workshop

As part of his artist residency at the Museum, Marc Arthur Sohna invites you to take part in the creation of an imaginary, utopian community through a series of three workshops. Echoing his residency project, this programme explores the transformation of individual hopes and imaginations into a collective force, by imagining alternative ways of inhabiting the world. This second workshop invites you to imagine and create the clothing and adornments of the imaginary communities conceived during the previous workshop.

Workshop programme

For this second workshop on creating imaginary communities, you will first revisit the stories developped during the first workshop to immerse yourselves in their worlds. Once you have fully embraced these communities, you will explore their dress codes: what are their traditional garments? What do their festive outfits look like?

Using a wide selection of fabrics, materials and paints, you will be able to design and make the traditional outfits for your communities, bringing your ideas to life through clothing. These creations will then be worn during the final parade.
