Image whispering for blind and partially-sighted audiences

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum is proud to have initiated the ‘soufflage d'images’ service in French-speaking Switzerland, in partnership with the association SOUFFLEURS DE SENS. We are now offering this service to give blind and partially-sighted people full access to our exhibitions.

What is an Image whisperer?

The principle is simple: enthusiastic volunteers accompany blind or partially-sighted visitors on their tour, describing elements that are invisible to them and providing the information they need to access the works on display.

Are you blind or partially sighted and would you like to be accompanied?

  • Book your ticket at least 15 days before your visit, mentioning that you will be accompanied by an image whisperer. The venue will reserve a place for him or her free of charge.
  • Request an image whisperer from the SOUFFLEURS DE SENS service, specifying the name of the exhibition, the date and the time. Then, they looks for a volunteer.
  • The available volunteer will call you at least 3 days before the date of the event to make an appointment with you.
  • You meet your image whisperer at the meeting point and enjoy the exhibition with him or her.

To contact SOUFFLEURS DE SENS :

  • by telephone on +33 1 42 74 17 87 or by e-mail at the following address: souffleursdimages@souffleursdesens.org.
  • The meeting place will be arranged with the participant and the volunteer.
  • This service is free of charge.
