Video | Covid 19 and Us by Magnum Photos and You

Description

This video was created as part of the "COVID-19 and us by Magnum photos and you" exhibition. It is an international participatory project, in partnership with the prestigious Magnum Photos agency. Some thirty photographers from all over the world shared their views on the pandemic, first online from 18 May 2020 and then in person at the museum from mid-June.

Each week, these never-before-seen images were also presented on the museum's website, providing an opportunity for discussion with the public on a range of themes: defying, expressing, rebuilding, keeping up, preventing, watching. In an attempt to give meaning to the upheavals caused by the pandemic, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum launched this initiative by directly involving the public in its approach and allowing them to give a personal account of this period. These testimonies, whether in written, visual or audiovisual form, subsequently became part of the museum's collections.

This video presents testimonies selected by Magnum Photos and the Museum. The photographs presented come from different parts of the world, and each offers a different view of the pandemic and its consequences. These images are not intended to offend or shock the public, but rather to offer a message about this period, which everyone is free to interpret and add to through their own experience.
