HUMANITY, a video by Henry Leutwyler
Description
For the NO’PHOTO 2021 biennial, we have given photographer Henry Leutwyler carte blanche to rediscover our collections. Under his attentive and generous lens, the most diverse objects come to life and tell a new story. Leutwyler observes the smallest details, creates new links and reorganises the collections with rigour, curiosity and poetry. In this way, the collections assert themselves in all their materiality and vulnerability. Through his images, Leutwyler leads us to listen to what the objects themselves have to say and questions the way we look at them.
“Photography is the only thing I love doing and the reason I get up in the morning.” A self-taught Swiss photographer, Henry Leutwyler produces images that are often uncluttered and unfailingly rigorous, like a discreet but striking refutation of today’s hyper-retouched and stylised images. He is regularly published by Steidl, and his portraits have featured in the most important magazines. He lives and works between Switzerland and New York.
