Participatory Artist Residency

For the first time, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum is launching its first participatory artist residency. This unique program, at the intersection of art and humanitarian action, is designed to support emerging artists. For this inaugural edition, the Museum is hosting Iranian artist Zahrasadat Hakim, winner of the 10th Prix Art Humanité.

Zahra will take over "L'Atelier," our new creative space, on March 4th. Until the summer, everyone is invited to join in free access and contribute to the creation of a tapestry. In collaboration with Zahra when she is present, or following her instructions when she is absent, you can add your personal touch to this collective artwork. The program includes weaving workshops, meditative moments symbolizing unity, and traditional Iranian meals—so stay tuned for upcoming events!

Once completed, the work will be shown in the Museum's reception areas, before being integrated into its collections.

The Prix Art Humanité is the result of a collaboration between the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, HEAD – Genève, the AHEAD Foundation, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the ICRC Foundation and the Geneva Red Cross.
The artist residency benefits from the invaluable support of the SKKG Foundation.

Zahrasadat Hakim’s work explores memory, displacement, and dreams, shaped by her experience as an Iraqi migrant born in Iran. Her art navigates themes of belonging, identity, care, and collective healing, drawing from personal and shared histories.

Blurring the lines between reality and imagination, Zahrasadat uses performance, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and video to create immersive spaces. Care— both for oneself and others—is central to her practice, as she views creation as a tool for empathy and connection.

Inspired by nature’s cycles, she contemplates resilience and mutualism, using organic and salvaged materials to reflect on time, migration, and sustainability. Based in Geneva, she continues to develop her multidisciplinary practice.
