Through a wide selection of objects and little-known stories over more than a hundred years, WHO CARES? GENDER AND HUMANITARIAN ACTION invites us to take a fresh look at the history of humanitarian action and its contemporary representation. Fixed roles are often assigned to men and women: some on the side of action and leadership; others on the side of compassion and care. However, the complexity of the work of humanitarians and their lived experiences, yesterday as today, do not correspond to these stereotypes.
An exhibition co-produced by the International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (MICR) and the 'Women_Humanitari@ans' research team affiliated with the Institut Éthique Histoire Humanités of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva with the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
