In 2022 and 2023, the museum participated with the Association of Intercultural Mediators (AMIC) in two workshops offering participants a unique perspective on the museum. Through interpretations of works presented in the permanent exhibitions, referred to here as "alternative readings", this project multiplies the worlds within the museum, opening up new possibilities of identification and self-representation for a wide audience.

We invite you to discover the workshops Cartographies affectives et identitaires by Giulia Cilla and Les chemins by Cristina Da Silva at the Lectures Alternatives project restitution on June 15, 2024, as well as the other creations produced as part of the partner museums' encounters. Admission is free. Program:

  • 2pm-4pm: presentation of projects and discussion between participants. Sound caspets and visual productions will be on display.
  • 4-6pm: A drink and a concert of Eritrean music.

AMIC defends a fair, equitable and harmonious society by promoting the inclusion and autonomy of refugees and migrants in Geneva society.

AMIC's mission is to welcome and facilitate the integration of refugees and migrants in the canton of Geneva, by developing projects, actions and services that meet the needs of refugee and migrant women, families and children.

To implement its vision and mission, AMIC offers a diverse range of services organised into 6 areas: reception, information and guidance; support and accompaniment; socio-cultural activities; parents and children; promotion and expertise; sponsorship and godparenting. The Association caters for women and families, as well as young refugees and migrant children living in Geneva.

Through the "Lectures Alternatives" project, AMIC has collaborated with three Swiss museums: the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, the Museum of Ethnography in Neuchâtel, and the Musée gruérien in Bulle. To achieve this, the project directly involves migrants who act as guides in these museums, helping to make the visits and workshops more participatory and encourage intercultural exchanges.

The "Alternative Readings" project (2022-2024) is supported by the Federal Commission for Migrationas part of its "New Us" programme, which seeks in particular to deconstruct the dichotomy and reflect the demographic diversitý experienced on a daily basis, by supporting actions in favour of cultural participation projects for the migrant population.

At the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, the artists Giulia Cilla and Cristina Da Silva led the workshops.
